Flat Tire
Claudia Holzinger is a visual storyteller mostly working in photography. Her practice engages with body politics, role concepts, fan culture, moral hygiene and established power structures through costume comedy, pathos and humor. She has a penchant for the absurd, the awkward, the explicit and tragic-comical narratives. She can be contacted at claudia@claudia-holzinger.de.
Claudia Holzinger received one of three US travel-grants by the State of Bavaria and has been touring through unbelievable landscapes and cities for the last 5 months. All images shown in the exhibition have been photographed during a Residency at Popps Packing in Hamtramck, Michigan in November 2023.
After working as a TV-editor in Munich, Claudia Holzinger studied Graphic Design and Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in various exhibitions including Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery Berlin, Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Kunsthaus L6 Freiburg, Kunstpalais in Erlangen, Gallery 207 in Prague, K.L.8 in Brussels and Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Her images have been featured in Sueddeutsche Zeitung Magazine, GUT Magazine, System Magazine, Profifoto Magazine, Vogue Italia and Der Greif, among others. She has been awarded the Bavarian Award for the Advancement of the Arts in 2018, the German Photobookaward in 2019 and has been nominated for the ℅ Talent Award Berlin in 2020 and the German Design Award in 2019.
Since 2018 Claudia Holzinger is part of Femxphotographers.org, an international photography collective, with whom she is currently working on a third publication following MIND OVER MATTER (2022) and THE BODY ISSUE (2020) published by Hatje Cantz Berlin. Claudia Holzinger collaborates with artists Sophia Suessmilch as Suessholz (2020) and Lilly Urbat as HOLZINGERurbat (2016).
